Has anyone seen an imperforated variety of US Scott #5789 before? I couldn't find it in the Scott specialized US book, but maybe it's too recent (issued in 2023). I bought this pair at a stamp show from a dealer who had a whole coil of these stamps.

i think that is a 5789A (going from memory) with die cutting omitted. I have a PNC5. at least 2 dealers are selling them. |

Thanks! Appreciate your chiming in. I didn't even know PNC5 was a special way of collecting stamps. Had to Google it I guess I should have asked that dealer for a PNC5 since he had a whole coil of these stamps…instead of just this random pair. Will keep in mind next time! Thanks! |

I guess there's always a change but I would say no since they are a legitimate dealer who attended the annual san diego stamp show. I really hope the counterfeiting issue has not spread to dealers at stamp shows. |

I think the large press sheet is produced in both the perf & unperf'ed so try to determine if you have a 'cut-up' press sheet. |

I don't think imperf press sheets of this issue were released. Scott normally lists them and prices gutter pairs etc., but those are not listed for this issue (sheet stamp 5787). Besides, the OP said they bought the imperf pair from a dealer who had an entire imperf coil roll. I have seen a few dealers selling them, including the PNC5. I think Scott is waiting to see how common they are before they list a price for them. It is a good point, eligies. I have seen a popular NY stamp dealer auction modern "imperforate errors" on ebay that are just cutouts from press sheets, and they sometimes fetch high prices. A little knowledge is a critical thing. Edit: clarified sheet stamp Scott number. |

These were not issued in press sheets (they've never done a press sheet for a coil) |

eligies may have been suggesting if the sheet stamp with the same design (Scott 5787) were sold as imperforate press sheets, would you be able to tell the difference between a horizontal pair from the imperf press sheet and an imperforate error of the coil?
The PF/PSE probably could differentiate by analyzing the edges under a microscope, but would an ordinary collector be able to tell? Is there any printing on the back side of either 5787 or 5789A to distinguish them? |

guess I should have checked back to when Scott announced catalog #s for the issue in the multi formats. I just dismembered that sheet format ( not necessarily this issue) came in press sheets both perf & imperf. Maybe, thinking deeper, not definitive issues are issued in press sheets, just commemorative issues. HELP>> |

There were no press sheets for the pane of 20, Scott 5787. There are typically no press sheets for definitives. |

For a while I didn't quite know what to make of them, but now I am starting to see them pop up on HipStamp. So I guess they are getting around. |

They're not from press sheets...if you look closely at the photo, you can see the coil roll roulette-type separators at the bottom. |

Related, a 5788a imperforate strip of 5 (not even a PNC) with certificate just sold for $3000 at Kelleher Auctions sale 815 lot 3220. The 5788a has the USPS microprint below the lower left corner of the star field, the 5789a has the USPS microprint at the right of the lowest flag stripe. |
