I am confused by the perforations this stamp has. Any help at all would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

No need to worry about the type of grill. It's a 113.

Most likely this was a stamp with large margins and the perforations were cut off, either accidentally or intentionally. Perhaps whomever cut the stamp off the envelope to soak the stamp was careless and cut the stamp too close, or perhaps someone tried to be cute and make an imperforate stamp.

Your top margin looks like a natural straight edge, and the side margins cut with scissors. Here is a sample of what the stamp might have looked like before the perforations were trimmed. One side with a natural straight edge and two sides with large margins.

Your stamp is an oddity and a curiosity but unfortunately with minimal monetary value due to the damage.

I am not interested in value. I have thousands of stamps and many high value.

Anyway

By comparison the stamp in question does not fit the theory presented by ZebraMan.

His theory is correct. Somebody cut yours with scissors.

In my opinion your stamp is a straddle pane margin stamp that has been trimmed as well. The image below gives the general idea of what your stamp started out as.

The stamp rodgcam has shared makes this argument more convincing. But still there is something different about the paper on the stamp in question - likewise the margins. Additionally the color is different which I know is almost impossible to convey in a photograph. Are there any other possible theories?

Since this stamp is so collected and so well studied over the past 150 years we can rule out everything except what Zebra and I have said. Your stamp did not originate as it appears now.

What are you getting at? What do you wish to see as an outcome here?

There are no other possibilities. It is a large margin trimmed 113

I don't think there are. In addition to the trimming, your stamp has darkened over the years, likely the effects of acidic paper on which the stamp was mounted. To me, the stamp is a space filler, meaning very little value should you try to sell it.
