Does anyone have a good source of cancels - showing date and city that used a cancel?

The question is rather vague and covers considerable time span. There are a number of books on cancels (like stampless), fancy cancels, and some select town/state/cancel studies. Many of them are available at the link provided above.

That said, There is no magic "master list". the vast majority of cancels are mundane or are of a standard type used in many towns and are not identifiable to a particular city when soaked off cover. Considering there were 45,000 post offces at the end of 1881, any book must must be very limited and representative in its true coverage.

In short, did you have a specific stamp issue, or georgraphic area, or cancel type in mind?
