Hard to decide a "best" forum for this. But this is the forum most likely to used by US FDC users.

Hello all, not sure if this is the correct forum for this, but I am trying to track down a collection of first day covers that were stolen within the past couple of months.
I realize it is a longshot, and first day covers don't have a lot of monetary value, but they have a lot of sentimental value. It is a collection of pharmaceutical first day covers from the 1960's/70's, about a hundred or so of them. I don't have a catalog of them, but they were all addressed to Dr. Louis V. Brennan in Falls City, NE. If anyone has been contacted about buying or valuing them, I would geatly appreciate being informed. Thanks.

This does not belong in the "Introduce yourself" forum
Please use the "send note to staff" button - you have a better chance in the correct forum

You also need to send a notice to the APS even if you are not an APS member. They are good at getting the word out.

The bad news is that your collection has no value as far as stamp dealers are concerned. Meaning if peddled to one, no dealer would bite. I would check the pawn shops located near the place of theft. Otherwise if sold via flea market, that will be unlikely to surface unless a collector hears about this, notes the name and is willing to lose what ever money they paid for the stolen good.

The worst outcome is the thief realizes there is no value to convert to cash and tosses the group into a dumpster. Also since there is about zero value in the loss, the police/DA will not want to waste resources even if the thief is discovered.

A thief might have no clue has to such a collection's value and I think the first thing he/she would do would be to approach dealers - especially at a show. A sharp-eyed dealer with this simple info could help solve a crime. Where did the theft occur?

You could also contact the American Stamp Dealers Association and get the word out.

Have the police been notified? From where was the collection stolen?
