I have just found books of stamps costing 2 shillings (=10P) each containing mixed 1d (=1/2 P), 2d and 3d stamps, all in mint condtion.

I have no idea if these have any value to collectors, please advise.

You forget to mention what stamps you found.

Considering your profile states you are located in the UK and the currency, you might be referring to UK stamps. The face values are common and, unless you find a variety. Will hold little value.

But you really should post scans so we can see which stamps these are and in what state they are.

Or do you mean stamp booklets? (Many people new to the hobby call stock books and albums "books.")

Page 65 lists prices for 2/- stamp books: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.rushstamps.co.uk/mag/re79/re79.pdf

If the stamps are Machins, they will have very minimal value, Wildings can be better, but remember these are selling prices.
Eatlier reigns will be much better.

I am in the UK and they are UK stamps, obviously pre- decimal and when you could send a lettter for 1/2P.

I could send pics of the front and back of the booklets but they have never been fully open and I don't want to do that to photo the stamps inside, as it will "break the spine".

Will come back tomorrow.

We've never been able to send a letter for a ha'penny. .
Booklets are usually identifiable by the covers - you probably don't need to scan the stamps inside.

The "d" made it very clear they were pre-decimal. Pre-decimal Machins first were issued in June 1967.
As GeoffHa wrote, the front and back covers, normally, suffice to identify the booklet. For older booklets, you need to look at the contents or assume you have the cheapest variety.

There are no 2s booklets comprising 3d, 2d and 1d values, so I'm assuming that you have a selection of booklets that are not all of the same composition. Scans of the fronts and backs (matched together!) will tell us all we need to know in order to give you an idea of what you've got.

I say "scans", but photographs would do, as long as all the writing on the covers is legible.

Be prepared for the likelihood that you have only very common booklets, worth pennies rather than pounds.

Most mint stamps since 1940 are worth less than face valiue. their primary value is for postage and not many people want a ton of old stamps the have to lick.

Sorry, but that is an utterly irrelevant remark.

In the first place, OP mentions pre-decimal content. These have been invalidated for postal use more than 50 years ago. So, there is not the slightest relevance in a remark regarding the use as postage. Even if these stamps had been decimal stamps, the fast majority of stamps issued in booklets have been definitives. Almost all such definitives issued before 2022 and all of those from booklets have been invalidated.

The value is in the stamp booklets and not in the stamps.
OP is right in remarking he/she does not want to damage the booklets.

Also, it is unclear whether OP considers anything with pre-decimal stamps "very old" or whether OP is talking about King George VI or earlier stamps. If the latter, booklets tend to have value when in pristine condition.

I suspect we are talking either about Wildings or Machins (1952 - 1971).
Some editions are rare.
Some stamps only were issued from such books. As technical changes were implemented, some booklets were issued with a rare combination of panes of stamps with different characteristics.
The value is in the booklets as a whole and often not in the individual stamps.

I think that once we get a scan or photo of the front and back, we will be able to help the OP with their questions.
