Isa Muguruza is an illustrator who was born in Irún, on 10 February 1994. She is a graduate from the Francisco de Vitoria University near Madrid where she studied design and publicity. After her graduation, she studied at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. In 2019, she decided to focus on her work as an illustrator.
Her work has been described as creating a unique universe revolving around the female figure with a characteristic style that mixes realism with the psychedelic and metaphysical.
Since 2022, Isa Muguruza has been designing stamps that were printed by the Fábrica Nacional de Timbre y Moneda – Real Casa de la Moneda and issued by Correos. The stamps on subjects such as women's rights and female empowerment have been issued as part of different long-running series. The characteristic style of the artist has created a series across different series.
Love them or loathe them, the stamps jump out at you. When watching a clerk at a post office flip through a folder of stamps that, usually, do not cover any tariff or looking through the "Valores en el Tiempo" yearbooks of Spanish stamps, you, instantly, will recognise the designs by this artist.
