Most of the stamps shown here are Pop art at most. The key characteristic of psychedelic art is distorted/surreal imagery.
The rapid rise of psychedelic art associated with music were the posters used for advertisement of concerts in San Francisco 1966-72, posters which did not distort the text nor images much if at all. Often the text was created as a type face, which may have looked odd but no more than the letter Q in Goudy Bold as compared to Wedding Text or Old English Italic.
From that early 1966 art beginning in San Francisco it was spread and changed over both geography and time. This coincided with the SF Summer of Love shorthand centered at Haight and Ashbury in SF where even today on Haight is a psychedelic art gallery selling the entire age range of poster and other media from the 1960s-today.
In short the art style is rather broad with little or no to great distortion, but deep vibrant colors and contrasting colors abound.
One would think psychedelic art is in the eye of the beholder due the viewing trip be it from LSD, 'shrooms, lack of sleep or whatever is causing one's hallucinations. Salem witch trials also involved hallucinations induced in women who winnowed ergot infected grains of the time. Ergot is a natural producer of LSD. It is also the basis for ergotamine tartrate used to treat migraines due to its effect as a vasodilator, especially in the cranium.
Edited to fix drug addled quotes.

Naaaw, just bad typing. Too many years subjected to drug testing for me to bother with them now when no long subject to testing. In fact that very drug testing got me the most interesting pain prescription I even had. Take these pills and drink as much alcohol as you can and still operate the crutches. There was no testing for alcohol nor the pills being used off label.
