If somewhat common, perhaps someone will have similar forgery to post.

The Wallis and Futuna stamp showing the correct black/green colour. These were probably produced in large quantities with limited quality control over several years, much of that production doubtless going to the packet trade, as these are staples of children's albums from the period.

Nice page geoffHa.

I realized I was wrong after being advised the four pictures I posted were all color photos.

I have been updated, that yes the W&F overprinted stamp has green paper to the eye but the camera is not cooperating to show the green given the lighting conditions of photo. Nor with additional efforts could that be corrected.

The "green" can vary considerably, through to pretty much absent. I disposed of my French colonies duplicates some time ago, or I could have shown a selection.

@GeoffHa The suspected forgery is on very white, slightly yellowish paper, while the suspected genuine is on paper with a colour far closer to the one in the image. I have placed it in with my forgeries after learning about the correct colour of the paper, which, combined with the print variances, just about confirms it to be a forgery. The Wallis and Futuna one, I believe is genuine. Not that I ever believed either stamp was valuable.

@lithograving I'm not knowledgeable of modern technology and I do not use a computer.

A lot of the French colonies were fairly extensively forged for the packet trade, even the ones with very little catalogs value. I lean toward it being one of those forgeries.
