Georgetown, D.C, Cover:
Mailed during 1873 (date provided by docketing at left), this cover was franked with a 3-cent Washington large Bank Note issue. The stamp has been cancelled by a duplex, the killer of which is a square or a blob. I also noticed that there were three, cleanly-cut holes in a triangular formation, on the samp's surface. Although impressed fairly deeply into the stamp, the "holes" don't break through to the inside of the envelope,
Patent cancel?

The punches with added cancellation ink appear to be a possible patent cancel. This is not listed in Cole, but I'm sure there are some that weren't listed and still to be discovered. Would be nice to see a second one on cover like this. BTW, wonderful cover to boot!
