The brown long-eared bat (Plecotus auritus) is fairly large when compared to other European species, reaching almost 5 cm in body length. Its ears are particularly large. The Swiss stamp (2012) draws attention to to the fact that all bats are endangered for lack of habitat. The stamp measures 10.5 X 7.0 cm and the bat is embossed so you can "feel" its fine structures. Enjoy also rod's British and Tony's Polish stamps of the same species in earlier posts. (I'm adding to the older thread on bats - is there any way to combine the two? They are both interesting. They might even come out of hibernation.)
