A fraction of the catalog value? Rogdcam said $200.

This IS what rodgcam wrote:

Looking at ebay sold listings your stamp IF a 261 would likely fetch around $200 if it has NO faults. By contrast a 276 in the same condition would get maybe $30 dollars.

First, it has NOT been established if yours is a 261 or 276 and FAULTLESS. Yours, be it a 261 or 276 is not faultless due to the ink mark on the back and anything which may be found with an in person examination. I addressed both ID possibilities. Also the $200 mentioned by rodgcam is a significant precentage lower than Scott Catalog's listed 261 VF used value.

I am glad you understand how to meet Siegel's minimum consignment threshold.

Since your profile plaves you in Germany, you might consider this platform: https://www.catawiki.com/de/c/187-b...egories=1665.

In Europe, such a backstamp is not considered damage; especially when the stamp was used. Also, centring is less of an issue here for stamps that, normally, are somewhat off-centre.

However, keep in mind you may not set a minimum amount.

@Rodgcam
I'm not inexperienced with auction houses; I've dealt with SiegelAuction for a long time and now know very well what they look for.
Of course, it hasn't made sense for them to auction second-rate stamps for quite some time now. That's been pretty clear to me for a while; you're underestimating me on that point.

Second-rate stamps—firstly, they probably haven't needed them for decades, and secondly, it would seriously damage their reputation. It would be extremely harmful to the auction house, especially if they did it too often.

I've known all of this for a very, very long time. I'm very familiar with German auction houses by now.

I didn't say, "I want to sell this stamp at SiegelAuction now."
If I had, I would understand you!
At most, I would have included it in a large lot as a test and probably just received it back.

@Parcelpostguy
Yes inc on the back is a fault, I personaly would be very happy with 100€ maybe this is realistic, waht do you think about 100€ ?

@NSC
Catawiki isn't a good place to sell US stamps, as there are too few interested buyers there.
US stamps can really only be sold successfully in the USA.

in my personally opinion

I agree the US is the best place to sell them, especially the expensive and specialised items. Still, if the price you can make is not high, costs may weigh.

Just for the record in 2018 Siegel sold this stamp for me in sale 1187 lot 68.
Granted it was a Scott 21 position 99R2. It is now one of 21 in their census of that stamp. It may be one of the most damaged and off centered stamps they have ever sold. I just thought that it may be of interest.

Other than that experience, I totaly agree with everything that Rodgcam and others have said.

RLM - I think we can make an exception for your stamp.

It's a typical example of the $1 stamps of these issues. Assuming that it's sound, it would probably sell at retail for about $75-$85. Some dealers would add it to a collection to increase the catalog value.

I would really appreciate your expertise :)
I want to give these stamps as a gift, and they should have a total value of approximately $350-$400. What do you think these stamps are worth together? I would appreciate a truly honest assessment.
