I collected stamps when I was 10 years old but then stoped.
I have a stamp album, the one with clear horizontal strips where you place the stamps in "and I remember that I usually bent its serrations while trying to".
I don't know what the name or type of this album, but I recognize that you all show pics of your stamps with a black background and the stamp is mounted without this clear strip.

what is the name or type of this album, and hoe is the stamp mounted in its place without falling.

this is an example of what I am referring to.

thanks

Amr

The pics are not necessarily taken in the album. You may find the stamps are removed from the album and placed on a black background, just for the purpose of the photo.

But yes, the pages with clear strips for the stamps and the black background is used to scan stamps. I mostly always scan stamps while they are within the clear plastic strips.

It helps with picking them up off the scanner, and handling them and the clear strips are 99% transparent to the scanner.

The serrations that stamps have around there edges are known as perforations on older stamps. Or abbreviated as perf or perfs. A stamp with perforations is called perforated (or perforate more rarely), and a stamp without perforations is called imperforate or abbreviated imperf.
Perforated (or having holes punched in) stamps:

On new modern stamps that are die-cut self-adhesives, the perfs are still sometimes called perfs as they are still measurable by the same method as older perforations but more strictly die-cut.

I have Lighthouse Stockbooks, that have the clear strips you describe. I use tongs to handle the stamps while placing them in the album. I use a dull butter knife from my kitchen (improvising!) to hold the strip up away from the page, preventing damage to the serrations (we call these perforations here, but I get your drift). Sometimes I will balance the knife against the book to hold the strip up, while placing an entire row of stamps. There are some truly amazing acrobatics involved in stamp collecting!

For photographs (I don't have a scanner), if the stamp is small enough, the clear strip may not be noticeable. Otherwise, the stamp has to come out of the album...
