While he was on the Indian States, Monty should have included Jasdan another one stamp wonder , on a simplified basis anyway (and so is Wadhwan, for that matter). But back to the small stamps, and Indian States starting with J: here is Jind SG J16, alongside a recent Australian commemorative (I have a few spare copies of the Jind. If anyone wants one, just email me, and I'll put in the mail for you.) |

I have the little blue Colombian one from the top row of Nigelc's picture. Its tiny, 1.5cm x 2cm. It would be fun to have a small collection in a scaled-down album, Cute! |

That powered flight stamp is a real curiosity, if you asked kids in which direction the plane was flying, I wonder what response you would get?

It makes no never mind Edwin, post away! No one is first or last, it's just one big philatelic soup. I like the way you did it |

Edwin, that's perfect for this post - the quarter really helps - sometimes the largest and smallest stamps look just the same after scanning and posting. Maybe that should be the new standard for the forum?! |

By the way, I just saw my first newspaper periodical stamp firsthand at a show yesterday - whoa, now that is a stamp. Gotta get one of those giants and mount it on the same page as one of the "small ones" (when I can afford it)! |

..."in the eyes of the beholder" Yes it is small, would raise debate as it is only the left hand portion of a two piece issue. The image on that little tacker is an image taken from one of the very first recognisable "stamps" in history, the Sardinian letter sheet. The year escapes me.... (1818) I'll see if I can dig up an image for you. use text string "cavallini" here http://rainbowstampnews.blogspot.co...archive.html |

THanks for clearing that one up. I never knew it was only part of a tow-part stamp, but now that I look closer I can see the continuation of the design. I learn something new everyday! |
