hello i received six harris world stamp albums today I also received a bunch of vietnam stamps, many of which are after 1975 yet when I look into my world stamp album I see vietnam stops in 1975 and virgin island is next see country i know for a fact that the previous owner of the album had purchased the supplements up to 1991/92 because many countries go up to those years and the pages are newer compared to the older pages so I am confused as to why I cannot see more recent years for vietnam would it be because the previous owner just ignored vietnam would it be because vietnam changed names after 1975 would it be because the supplements did not include vietnam what am I missing?

Stamps from Vietnam were embargoed in the United States from 1975 to 1994. Harris albums were published in the USA, therefore, I'm guessing they did not show those issues because of this trade embargo.
You could used blank or speedrille pages for the missing years.

hello, Vietnamese history has several periods, such as before 1945, after 1945, and after 1975. You can search for this information to understand it better. Regarding the Virgin Islands stamp, I think it's from a different country. |

Hi Kira,
You might also consider getting some blank or speedrille Harris pages (or the CWS version since you're in Canada and those may be easier to get up there). You could then place any additional stamps on those. Since the Harris pages are fairly abridged you'll probably run into stamps that you won't have a space for. The CWS blank pages should include a sheet of gummed country labels. At least they did when I purchased some 20+ years ago. I don't know about the Harris ones as I've never used them.

The easy way is go with Steiner pages and have someone who has a adjustable hole puncher to the Harris album . |

i really like to be able to put the stamp in the little space for it it is not as fun when there is missing images
i understand why harris does not have all the images that would be way too many pages but still it is fun to see a specific place in the album for the stamp you have
for canada and usa I have albums or printed pages (for newer years) that has almost all the images so it is fun for those countries
thank you for all the information and guidance |

You can print out Steiner pages for the missing years onto Harris size blank pages. |

As I posted earlier ,you can get a firm or a friend to print those Viet Nam pages .you will be short a 1/2 inch at the top or bottom and i/2 inch on the side to the Harris pages . Then a adjustable hole puncher is need to line up the holes to fit the posts . I keep two hole punchers one for three ring binders and one for the Scott Int'ls ,the pages in the Internationals are larger but the few Steiner pages don't mess things up and not too noticeable for a size difference . |

This would be your line up between Steiner page and a Harris album page . |

[sic] "i don't have the steiner pages but even if I did I don't think my printer can print the harris album pages size which are a different format then the letter pages it can print"
Oh, don't give up so easily! I do this by printing out the Steiner pages at home on my printer and then taking those as my "originals" to Fedex to copy them onto the blank paper of my choice. The resulting pages look great.
Another tip is to save the Steiner files you're working with as Word documents (use the "PDF Candy" website), then highlight Steiner's page borders and delete them so you can pirint onto your album's blank bordered pages and they will match perfectly.
As for not having the Steiner pages, they are sometimes available online at no charge for certain countries, I've found, and you might run across them -- but the cost of the ENTIRE WORLD of album pages is somewhere around the amazing price of $75 (formerly $50). If you need the pages from 1975-92, and that's quite a few pages, this seems like an affordable way to get them. Popular album supplements covering just a decade or so often cost $30, $40 or more just for the single supplement -- and you'd be getting the entire history of stamps for the entire world.
I'd definitely print on real Harris blank pages so I have the correct hole punching and they match exactly the color of the paper and the look of all the other pages. Why be sloppy and end up making your album look bad? |
