Since there hasn't been any action on this thread for a few days
I figure it's time to revive it.

Johannes Britze was mentioned previously on page 20 and
some of his work was shown.

Here are a few more.

Scott 258 - 261

The Danish stamps he engraved appeared between 1949 and 1962, I don't know if he engraved for other countries.

lithograving - No wonder it's been quiet here. Your new typography thread has been drawing a lot of interest! Here's a triple-header to catch-up. - nethryk

Nice stamps Andrew, although I am not quite sure what Martin Mörck has done to poor Marie's face! I guess the engraving came from this photo:

Is she a little more "pregnant" in the stamp, or is it me?

:)

You guys posted lots of nice stuff here in the last couple of
hours. Now we have a quartet.

nethryk, you stole my thunder. I had just scanned those
two Jacobsens. I don't think there are many of his left which haven't been shown yet unless he engraved stamps for other countries/printers?
The Alcide de Gasperi by Puliti reminds me of the style used by Austrian
engravers in their portraits.

Perf those Monaco are very fine engravings, especially
Charlotte Grimaldi and the New York PO by Munier.

Andrew, I hadn't seen any of those before, thanks.
Marie kind of reminds me of a Mad scientist or Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

Those Monaco ones are lovely Alex.
Just a small point to tidy up your posts - the url needs to be contained in double quotes e.g [url="http...html" or deleted as it isn't necessary.
It keeps the images left justified.

Anthony

Indeed, I had a look at the original stamp and it's the same, so the photo isn't bloated. Martin bloated Marie haha. Not only does her dress looked too spread out, her face looks sinister as Litho mentions.

These stamps are all from 2011, litho. France, like Monaco still 'abuses' with the engravings.

I think most of the engravers have been mentioned before.
