Hi, I'm still new here and couldn't navigate to any thread covering this topic. I am just getting into collecting German stamps and found that I have quite a few Bohemia and Moravia stamps. I understand that there isn't really a correct answer to this question but how do you guys handle placing these stamps?
As a follow-up question, where do you include occupation stamps? I have some over- printed Deutsches Reich stamps from france (FR N45, Fr N30, etc.) Scott technically identifies them as french stamps but where do you guys put them in your albums?

Regarding Bohemia and Moravia, in the Czech Republic/Czechoslovakia section, typically placed immediately following or within the Czechoslovakia listings.
Occupation stamps in (Scott) albums are typically located within the specific country section that was occupied, often following the regular postage, semi-postal, and postage due issues. Directly lifted from AI...

If you specialize in collecting Germany then Bohemia and Moravia stamps could go together with all the other Occupation issues (though B&M was actually a Protectorate). There are enough Occupation issues to fill at least two albums. |

I have been working with Germany as of late and the occupation issues are really confusing. I plan to map out the Scott listings for future reference since I will forget half of what I learned since I am not very familiar with Germany.
For example, Scott starts with Germany no. 1 following the states listings. Then it continues the numbering with the US/GB Bi-zone occupation (?) issues. The Federal Republic follows that with uninterrupted numbering. The other occupation (AMG, French, Soviet. etc) plus Berlin follow all that with the 1N, 2N, like listings. Some Soviet listings are with GDR (East Germany).
Some catalogs (online, printed) treat the bi-zone like other occupation and restart numbering with Federated Republic.
I use Steiner pages so mostly forced to use Scott since Steiner follows Scott and prefer occupation issues located with occupied country and that may include colonies. |

It rather depends on your focus. I have no interest in German stamps. When I had Bohemia and Moravia stamps, they sat with my Czechoslovakian collection. For the French occupation of Germany and the Saar, they're kept with my French area collection. German occupation of French territory (eg Alsace-Lorraine) is also with the French area. |

I am not consistent, but place stamps wherever they best tell their stories. In general, stamp designs determine where occupation issues go.
For Bohemia and Moravia, I place them with Czechoslovakia, in chronological order. They used the engraved monuments from the previous republic, and then the postwar governments continued the linden leaf definitives.
French occupations of Germany used overprints on German stamps. The Alsace-Lorraine occupation stamps from 1870s are interestingly similar to the shield issues of the Empire. So those are all in my German collection.
Saar is a collecting focus so I keep it all in its own binder. |

Yes, there is more than one way to organize Germany. Here is how I do WWII and post-WWII Occupations. |

Always interesting that Montenegro, Albania, Zara, and Rhodes are "West," but the more western Laibach is "East." (I get the former are old Italian posessions.) |

Since I only do postal history with a central theme, I simply put them with the specific users and don't concern myself with the specific occupied country. So covers involving the police go together, and those involving the SS go together, etc. |

With the exception of the Heydrich Block (souvenir sheet, Sc B20 footnote), BuM stamps are mostly quite inexpensive and none are expensive.
I have 3 BuM collections: one in my Germany collection, one in my Czech collection, and one in my WWII topical collection. Those are my 3 main collection interests. |
