This is a German stamp that Laswabbie sent me.(Thanks Laswabbie!) I like to look up my stamps and find out the history of the place or individual, etc . I tried on google and several other sites but cannot find this woman's history? It looks like her names is Luise Henriette von Oranien? Thanks! I even looked for a Louise (Luise).

It looks like Luise's grandfather, William of Orange, was known as "Wm. the Silent" and supposedly the FIRST WORLD head of state to be assinated by a handgun! Interesting. Gotta love that history!

You've hit on the reason stamp collecting is so interesting. When you 'surf' the history of a stamp you never know where you are going to end up.

I actually remember William the Orange from World History. Of course as old as I am, back when I took it he had just recently been shot!
