This photo was given to me by a friend. The year is 1913. The construction of the Panama Canal is nearly complete. This picture is taken looking southbound on the east side of the locks chambers (there are two side-by-side). One year later the canal opened for business.



I also uploaded a copy of the picture with a little more information about what is being seen. The orange circle highlights a group of engineers or distinguished visitors



Not much as changed. The only striking differences from the Miraflores Locks of today is that the ornate lighting was replaced with lower profile mast lighting and the control house upper level was enclosed at some point to allow for air conditioning.
