What do you think these mid 1800's to late 1800 stamps are worth as a lot? They are all used with old paper Hinges still attached on back, easily soaked off.

I'm considering selling my extras on ebay and not sure if I should add a reserve to this lot. I'm not good at selling stamps ( I hate doing it) so advice is taken well... but I have all these now and I hope to help another soul find a few missing items. and I want to start funding SI VOL 8

Any cat fur you see is included for free...

Edwin-

I didn't look at each stamp carefully, but I think this is probably going to garner a couple bucks as a packet. It is very varied. I don't think a reserve is necessary, unless they are worth more than that to you.

My 2d.

(I like the Manitoba cancel on the 3c Canada...neat.)

I don't think that you need to worry too much about setting a reserve.
There seems enough variety here that there will be more than a handful of bidder in the fray.
That being said, presentation/description can make a big difference...

(ie -- instead of describing this as a few of your used extras in need
of a soaking to remove dirty hinges,
maybe call it "A Large Worldwide 19th Century Collection! No Reserve!")

I like the Japanese stamps. I have a handful of these myself.
They are surprisingly cheap even in mint condition, but still very pretty stamps...
Unfortunately, I have been spending way too much $ on stamps and currently trying to
resist purchasing more, so I can get to know the ones I have a little better...

Good luck!

Sounds Ok to me Gaff, excepting "Large" ww collection.
In stamp terms that really is a piddly collection.
A Large collection would be >1000
Anybody disagree?

Strictly speaking, they spill into the 20th century, too.

In my mind, "Large" in an item description is dependent on what you're selling. "Large WW lot" sounds like hundreds, at least. "Large Fiume lot" might be 40, while "Large Oltre Giuba lot" might be 15.

Precise language we're working with here, no?
