Hi,

Do you know if this embossed overprint is common. I have some stamps with this overprint but not embossed.

Thank you!

This looks like the impression of the opt device,
if it was embossing, it would be raised on the front of the stamp.

Hi Rod222,

It raised on the back... is it possible?

It's like a hand made overprint... with lot of pressure.

Thank you!

With handstruck typography style opts, this is a common occurence
(denting on the back of the stamp)

I collect Romania, and have never seen your indentations before
That's why it still is, for me, a little bit curious.

My knowledge just doesn't runn that deep.
we have two possible scenarios:
1. "Many forgeries exist of this overprint"
2. On the parcel post stamps, Wmk = "arms impressed in the paper"

I would keep it in your collection with a big query cdnum.

I've seen lots like these - and it's "normal" variation with these stamps.

Michel has a subnote stating this is very common (as are overprints with partial or missing letters).

PS. And I assume the 1 bani stamp is dark gray / black - or otherwise you have come up with something totally unusual. The picture you have is definitely not of good quality IMHO.
