Looking through my Mom's old collection I've found a lot of things I really liked. I've seen some other people post some of their favorites, so I thought I'd join the trend :)! It's Monaco C41-44, and I think (I don't have a perf guage) we have the alternate perfs of 41 and 42. And I think I have 44a, but am missing 44, maybe it'll show up! Imagine my shock when I looked up their values! I don't think I'll ever be able to part with these though, I just find them so beautiful!

Oops, think I put this on the wrong forum, as I believe these stamps are from the 1960's. Sorry about that!

Wow. Nice. I only use the catalog for world at the library. What are these worth, by the way?

It helps for later searchers of this forum or even those looking through a few days or weeks later to have the country name or topic in the title. But, then again, you don't have to either.

It's all good.

C41 Perf. 11 is worth $30.
C41a Perf. 13 is worth $32.50.
C42 Perf 11 is worth $32.50.
C42a Perf 13 is worth $350.
C43 Perf 11 is worth $47.50.
C44 Perf 13 (which I don't think I have) is worth $100.
C44a Perf 11 is worth $325.

These are 2008 Scott Catalog prices. And it just proves to me I really need to get a perf guage! For some reason they didn't make an alternate perf for C43, which kind of makes me sad as I think it's my favorite (500 franc stamp).

And I'll remember to post better titles next time :)!

Thanks, they are beauties whether they are worth a lot or not. (which they are) I like the 500f one also. The 200f one reminds me of the Jonathan Livingston Seagull book which is a good thing. Have to dig that out and read it again. Or make my own stamp in Canada. Hmmmmmm.

For a gauge search on here SCF for 'perf* gauge', there are a couple topics that show and discuss different ones available. I got mine off ebay as I wanted to measure Canada stamps and in the specialized Unitrade catalogue they show measurements by the tenths on a perf.

You can measure them by just a metric ruler or scale too. Count how many are in 2 cm. Scott rounds these off to quarter fractions, Stanley Gibbons measure by the tenths. Mine works for both. The Perfect Gauge by Unitrade, watch out for those made in Japan as they are slightly off. Get the one made in Canada. Almost the same as the Stanley Gibbons clear plastic one but thinner plastic and cheaper.

Scrabatelic,

Perf gauges can probably be obtained FREE from a local stamp dealer (the cardboard ones).. Or you can spring for the required $3 to buy one.

Otherwise they're all over ebay. If you really want to sort out stamps like you've mentioned above, you need a perf guage.

The limit of scanned images to this forum is 90 KB and I think I've read more than a hundred times that these scanned images will not be enough to do figure out perfs.

Get a Perf guage!!! (Friendly suggestion) It'll cost 'ya $3!!

Hi Prince Afa. I actually went looking through some boxes of miscellaneous stamp stuff and found an old perf gauge and a spare set of tongs! I kind of feel like I died and went to heaven. I'm always losing my tongs, so a back-up will be much appreciated! Now I just have to perf them when I'm feeling adventurous! I'll keep you all posted with the discoveries, though I think I'm already correct on what they are.

Scrubatelic - Thank you for that reply.

In fact, I just read your "Welcome" post (after responding in this thread).

When it comes to identifying stamps, not everyone can/wants to do watermarks or determining the type of printing or they don't have color gauges or whatever.

But for a few cents (cost of a perf gauge), anyone can measure the Perfs of a stamp which will either determine the identity of the stamp or it will greatly narrow it down.

But please post, post and post some more!!

I'll probably get some flak from other forum members for being too hard on you.

But if you can post a scan of your mystery stamp at a decent resolution and give the perfs, you'll get a much better response than if you can't measure the perfs.

Obviously this only applies to stamps where perf variations are important.
