I've been looking through these and found some interesting varieties, with some help from Michel

INFLA-Berlin has a handbook relating to the series of rosette inflation stamps (there are also some handbooks available that deal with individual values or limited ranges from the series). I've found a listing on another site that says this handbook has 170 pages, so it must have quite a level of detail to it. It's one that I have often thought I should purchase - for now, the only INFLA-Berlin books I have are those dealing with inflation-era cancellations.

These stamps were my introduction to two things: Foreign Stamps and Inflation.

Thanks Ryan, I had no idea there was this much information on them.

Anyone else got some of these they'd be willing to post up?

Thanks Bujutsu. These are great sites. I could browse this stuff for hours.

My grandmother (mother's mother) owned a farm in Germany during this time. Mum used to tell us a story of how she would fill up her large cane basket (worn backpack style) every week with farm produce to sell at the market. She'd fill it with butter, eggs, cream, seasonal fruit and veg, and meat. I got the impression that it was about 40kg or so of produce. With the money she'd buy things that they needed but couldn't make on the farm like seeds and flour. One day, during the high inflation period, she sold all her things in the morning but didn't around to buying anything until the afternoon. By that time, all she could get for her money was a 500g packet of salt.

Hi Peterethio and All

It is not hard to realize how one can make up a hobby on just the inflationary stamps alone.

I have noticed in the past few years that covers from this era are getting more expensive to get from the dealers tables and auctions etc.

If it keeps going at the rate it has been, we will soon be paying close to the face value amount that was paid out originally - - what a thought :(

I was searching for more information on these stamps and came across this post from a couple of months ago. For completeness, there are some more good sites to add to the list. Thanks Jimjam2 for contributing the links.
