I believe these stamps represent the first day of issue ... don't ask me why, I assume someone just thought it was different to soak and separate them off paper (?)
But I have 59 of them! ... all with various parts of the FDOI cancel for that issue. Maybe a flood or fire damaged some covers and that was the easiest way to salvage the stamps?
Please bare in mind that the majority of these FDCs, airmail and otherwise, are produced in large numbers and a lot of them (though not all) do not appreciate in value too much over the years. So, for the sake of soaking any given stamp or set of stamps off of a FDC to include in one's album may not be necessarily a loss of value to a great extent. This, plus the fact that a newbie possibly did not know what he / she was doing when getting these FDCs since most are cheap enough and can be found in collections etc ??
