I recently picked up this precancel on ebay. I know nothing about it, other than I liked it. I would appreciate any info on this precancel.

Saint Elmo is a suburb of sorts in Chattanooga. The double-oval design would lead me to think this was provisional pre-cancel (not officially sanctioned by the Post Office Department).

Clarify: St Elmo was a town on the Georgia state line annexed to Chattanooga in 1929. It was a sub office of the larger PO. The is one of the many fancy cancels that was ordered and authorized by the local Postmaster, but not authorized by the PM General.

Just curious if these sort of "fancy precancels" command any premium in terms of catalog value. I previously posted this one from Jackson, MI that is of similar design on the same issue stamp:

WT1, Yours Jackson, MI is a L-1E, $1.00.
Rohumpy's Saint Elmo Station, TN is also a L-1E, $1.00

The Saint Elmo fancy cancel has 2 sister precancels.
The base is Chattanooga, TN the same design with 2 horizontal bar in the inner oval, valued at $1.50.
The other is the Highland Park Station NE of downtown has the inscription the inner oval is so inscribed, valued at $10.00.
