I thought I had read that these were in the era of flat plate printing. Hence there were no straight edges on stamps. Is that so?
Looking on bidstart a particular seller has a number in this series with straight edges.. honestly they all look cut. I wrote him yesterday about a particular stamp (expensive) that was obviously reperfed. he responded back with something like "taken again, dammit" Really? I am going to sell expensive stamps and not see an obvious alteration?
stay away from that guy, he has a lot of garbage out there.
The banknotes were flat plate printings in sheets of 200 subjects in 2 panes of 100. The sheet was split into the 2 panes this would yield 10 straight edges per pane. So 10% of all banknote will have one straight edge.
Frequently when the panes were cut into individual sheets they didn't exactly cut right along the guide line... I've seen (and own) quite a few guide line stamps that have huge straddle-pane margins. I have a 91R6 24c that shows most of the right "4" in "24" from 100L6
