Hi Kat,

Could you explain the particular situation you are dealing with? Are they stuck together with water-activated gum?

Take a look at #4 on this list, although I know some on SCF may have objection to this method, if you can't trust Reader's Digest who can you trust?

In all seriousness though, a lot depends on just how valuable the stamps are that you're trying to unstick. If the stamps are only of modest value, the freezer option is certainly worth a try.

Oh no! - there are 2 Kats

While I am known in here as Bujutsu, I also belong to a live stamp chat room and I am known there as "Katanaman" from at least 1998. They call me "Kat" for short so that they do not have to type out the whole name. <G>

Oh well, I guess there is enough room in the philatelic world for 2 of us

If the stamps are low-value and the freezer trick doesn't work you could just soak them off of each other. It won't change the way they look in your album. ;o)

Employ a "sweat box"
https://goscf.com/t/6119&SearchTerms=sweat

Use the search facility and search using "sweat box"
in the body of the post, and there should be pics
and weblinks for these
Hope that helps.

Although most collectors would consider tape a substance that would generally ruin stamps, there have been attempts to salvage some. Here's a link to a recent post on this site that provides some options to consider:

...Aah "scotch" tape,
I was racking my memory last evening, for another name for sellotape.

"Sello" or "Cello" tape is an abbreviation for "cellophane" tape. "Scotch" tape is the trademarked brand name of the tape made by 3M.

By the way, 3M = Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing ... an abbreviated quote from their website is noted below:

"3M was founded in 1902 at the Lake Superior town of Two Harbors, Minn. Five businessmen set out to mine a mineral deposit for grinding-wheel abrasives. But the deposits proved to be of little value, and the new Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Co. quickly moved to nearby Duluth."
