I am becoming more and more interested in Perfins. I'd love to see what others already have in their collections or tucked away in a stock book. I am especially interested in topics relating to transporation ie. Railroads, gasoline/oil companies, airlines/airports, automobile companies, etc. Yes I need another area to collect, even though my budget says NO.

I have found a couple recently after not have paid them much attention. I have no clue what they are yet. Although I think the France one is Credit xx Francais possibly. I have flipped the bottom image if it looks weird. And this nice KGVI |

Although I have hoarded Perfins from many countries, I only seriously collect Canada Perfins. I have them mounted in Crystal Clear sheets (SF8C) so that they can be viewed from both sides without having to take them out of the pages. Using a black sheet between each Clear sheet makes the Perfins 'pop'. I collect Perfins from all Canada stamps and also keep one example of each of the Perfin orientations (there are 8 possible orientations). They are sorted first on the orientation and then their assigned Scott number. Each Perfin has an ID, the following scan is the 1st page of Perfin C15, which is of the 'Canadian General Electric Co."; "C/GE" and used between 1903 and 1952. It has a rarity factor of 'H' which means that there are estimated 3,001 to 10,000 copies. This information is provided in a reference book titled "Canadian Stamps with Perforated Initials" by J.C. Johnson and G. Tomasson. Front of page: Back of page: |

Here's some U.S. perfins on hi value definitives: I can only assume the "MNB" and "HNB" are "National Banks" but which National Bank is subject to guesswork. I've also been intrigued by the encircled "B" as an interesting perfin, but again, I have no idea of the firm who would have used it. |

Aust perfin's are very attractive for me. One of my favorite ways to collect KGVs. My avatar is the type I like to most. But they are Government perfin's. John

I scanned this one a while back with the intent of posting it...don't think I did... ASEA must be akin to the General Electric of Sweden. |

Australian stamp perfin's are in all denomination and standard colour issues in my KGVs. They were used by the governments and private industry. There life span was 1914 to 1938. No stamp seems to of been left out. All are in some sort of perfin. KGV |

Can't hold a candle to what Stamporator has achieved, but here is one of 5 pages of my small collection of Irish perfins. Haven't worked on this for years, ought to get back to it. Info obtained from Ireland Catalog of Perfins by Richard L. Mewhinney, pub 1994. Also, here are the FOUR Canada perfins I have |

Quote: I'd love to see what others already have in their collections or tucked away in a stock book The perforations on this stamp represent a swan..I can only think it's from a special event in western Australia whose culture is centered around the swan..any other ideas where it might be from? |
