I'm not sure if this is something unique or if I just chalk it up to a printer blotch, so I thought I'd post it.

Almost looks to me like there was an overstrike in the letter "a" in the word "Minneapolis" and that a small "A" was somehow handprinted above it. Or maybe it's nothing (except my eyes are seeing things?)

What do you think?

This is a French version precancel for Minneapolis with the accent over the A which gives it an E sound! What? This isn't April 1st? Well, okay. Could very well be a printer blotch - don't know for sure. Just rechecked my calender with the correct month and just noticed this is Dec. 31st, so: HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!

Frankie

I will have to say that that is not a French accent mark since Minneapolis has nothing to do with French. 'Minne' or correctly 'mne' is Dakota for 'water' & 'apolis' from the Greek work meaning city. Besides Frogtown is in St. Paul not Minneapolis.

I figured it was nothing more than a printer blotch. Still, after looking at so many similar precancels, it still is kind of fun to find these oddballs every now and again.

Happy New Year!

There is a name for those spots when related to precancels, but it is eluding me at this time!
