Okay. Here's an odd one. The one on the left is a legit 841, but the one on the right is a mystery. I first thought it was DENNIS PORT, MA with PORT missing, but that town name is also 841.

Any answers?

I don't have an "absolutely for certain" answer, but the listing for Dennis shows that as being type 841(4) - the (4) means you apply footnote #4, which states there is a variance in line spacing of greater than 1/2 mm on the device. Your example does seem excessive even by that footnote, though.

That's what I was thinking Ryan! Very excessive to the point that it should have it's own number category. The difference here is a full 3mm.

Hi - I just got back from the Tampa precancel roundup - wow there was a lot of precancels there! Ryan is correct - the footnote-4 explains this. There was only one precancel 'device' - which has some rows with wide spacing. It is a common occurrence on 800-series precancels - one device = one listing.
