I realize that this board is inundated with posts about Scott 10/11, but I came across a minor anomaly that I would like help with. Basically, what kind of variation this represents. Obviously the stamp has problems due to the way it was cut, but the left frameline is apparent and unfamiliar to me. A second frameline seems to start at an angle in the upper portion, merge with the first and disappear, and then start again for a bit. The first picture represents the true color; I provided a second picture that doesn't represent the true color, but is a bit clearer in regard to detail:

I don't have a scanner, these are as clear as I could get with my phone's camera. I really appreciate any help.

The line you are talking about is commonly referred to as the inner frame line. These lines were recut by hand on many stamps and there is great variation. Your example was recut on the left inner frameline only. The angular appearance of the line is acually due to the outer frameline which curves inward at the center. This type of variety is not uncommon and is not priced in Scott. These types of varieties are of special interest to collectors of this issue but are not of great value. Since the inner frameline is recut this is considered a Type II stamp (Scott 11A).

Thanks Russ, I really appreciate the info. I'm amazed every day at how much I *don't* know about some of the stamps/covers that I have, but it's always exciting to learn something new!
