Since I'm not an expert in stamps, can anyone tell me what kind of perforation this is and how common are they?

What you have is a Schermack Type III perforation. Not as common as a traditional stamp perforation, but yet it is the most common of Schermacks. Here's a link that will explain it a bit more. Value is minimal.
