These beauties arrived in a box lot recently. They are covers from 1875. Sometimes it seems the things no one wants get passed around forever, they just get thrown into a box of unwanted stuff for the next guy. Not here! I soak stamps from covers, even FDC's if I need the stamps, and actually throw damaged stamps away.

So what should I do with these, soak 'em or burn 'em?

If, on the other hand, you really want them, I'm open to trades.
But they're hardly worth the postage to mail them away.

Hey Modern if you decide to burn them I would be interested in working out something for them I don't have much as of yet but I would be willing to attempt to do what ever it would take to get them from ya.

Mod....

I'd rather see you give them to a new collector as learning/filler items until they could acquire better material.

Tom, mostly just having some fun. No intention of burning, just soaking to salvage the stamps and possibly passing them on.

Cimarron, why would you want such scuzzy covers? Are you just after the stamps or is it really the covers that you're after?

Mod, I'm not a picky collector right now. It's like I told Walter if you see something you can possibly get, GO FOR IT. You never know if you will be able to get it later on in the future. in all of my collections I have always been an oppurtunistic collector, no matter what the condition if you can get it, get it. I do like the stamps but those covers would fit right in with one's I already have that are a bit worse for wear and they would serve as a teaching aid...This is what will happen if you don't take care of your collection....LOL

Cimarron, when I first thought of posting these, it was to put them in the "Stamp Tragedies" thread, thinking Bob might do something like put up a shot of a Zippo lighter or Swabbie bring out his flame thrower again, but decided to try a poll instead. Guess it didn't work.

Anyway, I'll get them off to you and see about finding some more stamps from Japan, as well, to make it worth the postage!
