My Scott#73 the "Black Jack" centering isn't perfect and has a cork cancel on it but I still love it. Please tell me what you think it may be worth? -Jay =]

Welcome Jay.

Nice #73. I like that you can see a bit of the frame from the adjacent stamp in the left margin.

The cork cancel is great, but not sure what you mean about "lower left" -- looks more top center to me.

I have to agree with your comment that these seem to always have bad centering. This is one of the most difficult post civil war issues to find well centered and sound. Well centered copies often sell for more than cat value.

This copy has VG/Fine centering but displays very well. Scott Cat is $70 in F/VF and I would estimate this one to be worth about $20-$25 assuming it's sound. Grats!

It is definitely sound. I need to document most of my high-end stuff. Thank you for the eval too.

I have always liked the Black Jack stamp regardless of the centering as long as the stamp is sound and the cancel doesn't obliterate the image. Congratulations on your acquisition.

Beautiful stamp - nice job!

The #73 Black Jack is one of my favorite US issues.

I have a "Jack" like yours and it as off centered as yours. I do have a light "bulls eye" cancel on mine. great stamp!

Jay,

Congratulations. I only recently acquired my first #73 and was quite happy to add it to my collection. The centering on mine is relatively good for the issue but I wish the cancel would have provided a better view of his face. Steve
