Can anyone give me any information on these 2 stamps? I found them while cleaning up a 1920's house along with a ww1 or ww2 mortar and pineapple grenade with pin still in. They Were the only things I could salvage since they destroyed the house with everything still inside. I pulled out of the rubble what I could.

Nothing seems to be wrong with them except they are used and Yellowing from age

welcome havenhill, the stamps are relatively common, but finding them there would probably mean that there are more since it would be extremely odd for just TWO old stamps to be in the house. The likelihood is that someone was a collector and the rest are scattered somewhere, unless someone took the books and these two just happened to be loose in the house somewhere. - Jeff

These were off of envelopes that were ruined but had slightly fallen off I searched through the pile of envelopes but most of the stamps had fallen of into the dirt or rubble and could not find them

Havenhill,

These two were originally issued in 1922 and are listed in the Scott catalogue as US #s 551 and 552 respectively. The listed cat value is .20/ea. There are some variations on these stamps, but nothing Earthshattering.

Cheers!

You have rescued several stamps,
you will go to Heaven.
Please be very careful with the Mortar and grenade,
otherwise you will be going there sooner than you think.

Unless you are very familiar with munitions, I would contact law enforcement about the grenade. Especially if there are children about. That being said, I would probably keep them, who knows, we might be invaded at some later date. As to the stamps, it may be that they are seed stamps. They may be the seed needed to get you started in stamp collecting. Wouldn't that be something, a collector starting out with both stamps and a grenade!
