I have 2 of these and I am trying to figure out if they are E12 or E12a. The color appears to be E12a but I am not sure. Also the top appears to be an almost imperf (perf holes are cut but not punched out) can someone advise on the type and pricing please... and thankyou

It looks like E12 (gray violet), but it's always hard to be certain on a computer screen and the picture is a bit small. The E12a (ultramarine) should be much bluer, assuming the paper is not toned. A used E12 is $1.25 in the 2010 Scott catalog; that catalog price is for a very fine stamp with no faults.

Also, did you remember to measure the perfs or stamp die size to make sure your stamps are not E15? The E15 is a much more common stamp.

I believe that both are the rotary press (perf 11X10.5) E15a red lilac.

You guys have an amazing eye for color differentiation. I can tell the difference between the ultramarine and non-ultramarine, but that's about it!

That's one of the reasons why I suggested checking the E15.

Color-challenged, but still enjoy collecting stamps!
