They may be common, but I like them! The second one (15c Franklin) with Fort Worth, Texas precancel (I think) is a Type 458. It was made in two varieties "narrow print" and "wide print". Without anything to compare it to, I'm guessing it's the wide variety. Anyone know for sure?
This Fort Worth is the L-15 cv 0.20. 400-series precancels have LINES that extend across stamps on at least one side [if at the side of the precancel device] or more commonly, on both sides. This stamp has bars, an important distiction.
Also interesting that the precancel has the old-style use of a period after the State name of "TEXAS" even though it's fully spelled out. (I know there were a lot of precancels from Ohio that appear the same way.) I've tried to find out when the practice stopped (i.e. putting a period after the State name, or even in old covers and correspondence, a period sometimes appears after a company name) but never quite figured out when it was actually dropped. I do know that up through 1950 it was used on and off for a time, but never isolated it any further than that.
