Not really,
just done to trick you,
a cut out from a 1947 souvenir sheet,
legal postage.

Luciano,

On November 1, 1946 uniform international airmail rates were introduced. The 1/2 ounce rate to the Western Hemisphere was 10 cents -- that explains the 10c postage on your cover. Use of the stamp cut from the souvenir sheet was probably not a common occurence but, as Rod indicated, it was perfectly legal to do so.

Yes, not common,
but have seen it pop up on SCF about twice in 12 months.
both as a singleton and as a SS complete.
I have had two sheets on covers sent to me,
but then again from collectors :)

Certainly not a common stamp to be finding, but it occurs often enough as Rod said that there is no special value and probably very few raised eyebrows. That being said, still a nice cover with clean strikes. - jeff
