So I am trying to sharpen my skills on what to look for after a collection was handed over to me. After reading so much I know at least to look for centering and some what of good condition. Could you guys give me your opinion on this stamp as condition?

I know it has a slight wrinkle at top right.

It is probably a Scott #1591 from year 1975, appears to be unused since I do not see evidence of a cancel. Value according to a catalog is 20 cents or less. With the wrinkle and slightly off center to the left, its true value is only a few cents. It is a very attractive stamp and part of an extreme popular series. Other stamps of the series will have the words on two sides, always curving around the corner on any one of four corners.

Atom hello. One term 'some collectors' may use to describe the stamp, it has a 'shortish perf' on the right side between the 5th and 6th perf.

This is why I am here, you guys really make this hobby interesting and fun. Really appreciate the terms used and what to look for. Only have a few thousand more to look at so I will be around for awhile.
Thanks again

All answers are correct in this thread and I might add that some collectors tend to call it a 'nibbed' perf. Whatever you choose, you are correct anyway lol

Welcome, atom!

I think you'll find this forum and its search function to be very useful tools as you hone your philatelic skills.

As for terminology, you may find the United States Stamp Society's Glossary of Terms for the Collector of United States Stamps to be another great resource (available at http://glossary.usstamps.org/ )
