Here is a nice stamp that has stamped AEREO on it. So is it both an airmail and overprint stamps? Also, I have seen the word airmail and air mail, is it one or two words?

Here is the stamp, hope all is enjoying their Saturday. I hear it's HOT in some areas? Will be about 92 in the Sacramento area.

Bye now,
SueStamps

I have another question about my own stamp above, lolol.....

So how did the process of this stamp evolve? It was a postage stamp and then did the Colombian government decide to use left overs as an airmail stamp?

If it was changed to an airmail stamp, was the value changed?

Did someone take their package to the Post Office and said they wanted to ship something overseas, and so that is when the AEREO was stamped on?

I have more stamps and more questions, lolol.
thank you all!

SueStamps, I don't collect Columbia but found your stamp in the Air Post Stamps section of my 2010 Scott catalogue (#C231). Your stamp was issued in 1953 and is valued at $0.20 for used. Above the entry in the catalogue it states: "No. 570 Overprinted AEREO in Blue".

Hi KirkS,
Wow, a refresher course and more! Thanks for the link. I love links and information. This is great stuff. I have a huge ziplock filled with overprints (I know, you are all probably cringing now, because my overprint stamps should be carefully put in binders, LOL.)

Thank you so much!

This is originally a 1948 Colombia SC# 570 postage stamp overprinted in blue to, yes, turn it into an airmail stamp. Yours is 1953 airmail SC#C231. Don't have a current value. My 2003 Scott's catalogue lists it at $.20

I have just changed my stamp image description and I hank you both so much for the information.

I have some very LONG image descriptions LOLOL. For instance on this stamp, my image for this stamp reads:

Airmail.Colombia.Originally.1948.Colombia.SC.570.Overprinted.In.Blue.Turn.Into.1953.Airmail.SC.C231.jpg

If anyone has some ideas of how I can keep track of the information other than changing the file name to my jpg, please let me know.

The more I get, the more I understand.... So it was originally issued in 1948, as a postage stamp, then turned into an airmail stamp in 1953.

But I did not know, that once it was turned into an airmail stamp, that is had a different Scott number.

Thank you!

Hi KGV Collector,
Ha ha, that's too funny!
The white dog (my SCF photo) is an animated gif and its eyes actually twinkle, lolol.

I am glad you enjoy my questions, but surely you and everyone will get tired of them because I have a million more, lolol... I have so many questions!

Even though I have been collecting for a few years now, I still don't feel that I know a whole lot about stamps.

I try to upload a couple photos every day with questions for all you wonderful SCF peeps!
Thanks again!
