These are in the book marked Siberia. I cannot find them. I begin to think they are either forgeries or not from Siberia. Can anyone help. Thanks in advance. You are all the best! - Jeff

In the Scott catalog --
The 25k and 10r overprints are all South Russia.
The 50k on 3k is Siberia.
The 50k on 5k does not look familiar. I will have to look that up.
I cannot tell from the pictures whether the overprints are genuine or not. There are numerous perf/imperf/inverted... varieties, so you will have to do the final catalog number ID. |

The only one I can maybe identify is the 10 ruble overprint. In my catalogue there's one local issue from 1920 mentioned for Armawir near Krasnodar. Can't find the others yet though. Edit: khj beat me to it. Also can't find the 50k on 5 yet, the others are indeed Siberia and South Russia respectively. |

Well I'm stumped. I cannot find that middle 50k surcharge. There are numerous bogus overprints for these stamps, but I don't have a comprehensive list. Hopefully somebody else can chime in and let us know the ID for that stamp! k |

Were the Novocherkassk bogus issues found in overprints other than 25? I'm out of ideas on the middle "50" overprint. |

The 25 on 2k and the 50 on 5k are both bogus "Novercherkassk" stamps. There were also bogus 1 ruble overprints "1P." These basically all look like Kuban overprints but they don't have the bar.

One small correction.
The 10 ruble on 15k overprint is NOT the local Armavir provisional, but is a "South Russia" (Kuban government) regular issue (Scott 27, SG 15 - both under the South Russia catalogue headings).
The 50k on 3k imperf Siberia stamp with inverted surcharge (Scott 8a under Siberia) is a valuable stamp if genuine, so expertization is required. |

Thanks for all the input everyone. I have not been responding, my wife took a surprise two days off and we have been doing summer stuff together. I thank everyone that gave some input and I think I have the information as follows. The third and fourth stamps are BOGUS. The large 10 on 15 picture is from South Russia. The inverted 50 on 2 needs to be expertised. but I got no information on #1 and #2 25 on 1 and 25 on 3. Did I get that right? Thanks again everyone. - Jeff |

Quote: but I got no information on #1 and #2 25 on 1 and 25 on 3 Quote: The 25k and 10r overprints are all South Russia. I should have been more clear in my reply. ALL the 25k and 10r overprints you show are from South Russia. The 25k on 1k is South Russia #1 in the Scott catalog. The 25k on 3k is South Russia #3. As Nigel pointed out, the 4th stamp in the top row (25k on 2k) is bogus. This is also mentioned in the South Russia listings in Scott. |

Thanks khj got it. Got any idea on rarity of inverted 50 on three and the likelihood of fakery before I send it in to be expertised. Think I would used Weiss for the expertization. - Jeff |

Quote: Got any idea on rarity of inverted 50 on three and the likelihood of fakery The inverted surcharge is Siberia #8a if genuine. In the 2009 and 2011 Scott, it catalogs for $200. That's up from the 2007 catalog value of $100. I don't know how common the forgeries are, sorry. |

Will Bill Weiss render an opinion on this? I would've thought it was outside his area of interest and expertise... |
