Hello there,

I was wondering how much stamp does worth with such a condition (there's one missing teeth "perf." at the bottom)?

Stamp is #E5 10c blue Special Delivery 1888 in MH/OG (tiny white spots are only scanner fault) ...

Much appreciate your feedback.

Cheers

All depends on what someone wants to pay. Damaged stamps would fetch 10 to 20 percent of catalogue. But many would except a pulled perf since it is just one.

Very nice! I am partial to these issues. Lots of detail and bold colors.
Here are my favorite B.O.B. stamps (besides all revenues of coursr)

Actually, I'm not into US philately but am collecting "Postman" postage stamps from all over the world.

The reason I've asked such a question is someone offering me this stamp for $65 (because of the missing perf.) & was wondering if it's a bargain or not?

Cheers

Certainly the stamp is attractive looking, but does one not further diminish its value given the short perfs noted in the top of the stamp? While not as significant as the damage at the bottom of the stamp, I assume it would have some additional affect on the final sale price.

Of course, when getting into stamps of this caliber, the value is primarily dependent on what a buyer is willing to take and what a seller is willing to pay, so the catalog value is just a reference point and hardly a perfect guide.

A couple of nibbled perfs shouldn't affect it that much. The bottom does detract but it is still a very nice piece and well centered IMHO

it also has a number of nibbed perfs.. which will devalue it as well.
And it has been hinged so the values quoted above don't count.
unused OG is 135.00 in VF condition.
this one isn't..
I would say..that $65.00 is the max value of this stamp. Maybe a bit too much.

Does it need to be mint? With just a bit of looking, you could get a gently used example with good centering and a light cancel for $5 or less.

At a glance, several nicely-appearing stamps with defects (primarily thins) are available on bidstart for less than $50. I'm sure with some in-depth looking, some combination of good price and minimal damage could be found.

Speaking strictly for myself, if I was going to accept some damage, I would take a gum disturbance or (small) thin over a pulled perf. I might be in the minority, though.

I would not pay $65 for this particular damages stamp. Pay a little more if you have too but you can do better on an undamaged stamp.

Nice stamp to go in a nice collection. There is someone out there that would be willing to buy that in its present condition.

James,

The 2011 catalog values for the E5 are the same as 1775mac gave you from 2008. I also recommend against buying at the price offered, given the stamp's condition. And if you're collecting postmen, a used example like the one below is a far cheaper option. A used E5 in VF catalogs $10; $6.75 for FVF.

Steve

Yes, it is a proof. I paid $8 for it with good margins and excellent centering.
