Thank you very much for any information you might provide as I'm lost on the foreign stuff but I am accumulating quite a bit of it so something might be in the worx.

Oh I did get a really neat Royal mail 1.10 stamp with a "Rosette" style flower on it that resembles the Machin style stamps. It's a very light lavender shade of purple and very well done. I'd scan it but I'm very tired but if there is any interest in it I will do so on request. I bid you a fare the well for this lovely evening my Friends. ~Jeffrey

The second card is Thai, not Indian. The only member I know of here who might have a chance of translating it is Rod222. You could try asking him.

Hello
My GB catalogue just goes up to 2004/5 so no hope there.

But on http://www.adminware.ca/machin/m054.htm , a wonderful site for Machins, this shows as a 2007 issue according to the font style.

Usually printed in sheets, these are also available from a prestige stamp booklet in 2007 about British Army Uniforms, attached to other Machin values. Not sure if the tagging or perfs are different.

Rust is the colour name on the site but red brown is on a GB seller's listing on ebay and it is probably different again in Scott's catalogue.

There is a new 2010 reissue og this 54p value with a different font with the top diagonal stroke of the 4 separated from the vertical stem. Also in a booklet.

Just a suggestion, change the title to include the word Machin and the country name Thailand for more responses perhaps?

The £1.10 with the Tudor Rose flower in magenta is a regional issue for England. Most stamps in Great Britain (including the Machin you posted)cover the whole country, however England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland have had their own regional issues going back as far as 1958.

Most of them are the same as the Machins but with their own country's symbol added...N.Ireland had a hand, Scotland a rampant Lion and Wales a dragon.

Each of the 4 countrys did issue 4 stamps with different designs on them too; England had

1. Three Lions (this symbol is on our national teams football shirt)
2. Crowned Lion with Sheild of St George
3. Oak Tree
4. The Tudor Rose that you have. (this symbol is also on our national teams rugby shirt)

SG Concise lists the Tudor Rose as £2.50 ($3.75) mint or used.

Thailand 1987 Sc. 1169-1170 Children's Day (that is what is printed in Thai). You can make a collection of Children's Day stamps from around the world. Often they show children's drawings.

Yes, Thai childrens day, illustrating "fireworks" night,
(on the face of the postcard)
it is still held in the country, every year, at which time
it is impossible to sleep as the rockets pass over every few seconds or so.

They fizzzz loudly, take off with a loud whistle
and come to a climax with a loud bang.
The Chinese element, use their long lines of
tiny crackers, that make a hell of a noise in the
small soys (streets)

Typical Thai celebrations, they love having fun.

@ Puzzler: Absolutely! & Thank you.

@ Rod222: Thank you for the expedient translation and also the description!

I'll change the header now! Thank you all.

WARNING to dial-up users: These are 600 dpi scans. I was hoping to showcase the features of the photo's better. Enjoy!

OK, this is the Obverse of the one that had the Machin.

This one, of course, is the Thailand card. It definitely ties well with the stamps now that I know what it's saying.
