I tried a 600 dpi of this stamp while I was on the first page of my album getting my #9 scanned.

Is there anything worrying, diverting or even educational that anyone can share about this?

Your stamp is indeed a #7. The stamp appears to be an "A" relief though it would be easier to tell if the top wasn't cut into a little. The color doesn't look like Plate 1E and Plate 3 stamps are quite scarce, so it is pretty safe to assume the stamp is from Plate 2 and used in June of 1856 or later. I think the stamp is pretty nice, the only fly in the ointment being the white spot on Ben's brow line that might be a thin or a dry print.

It is a very nice example of a #7. Good margins considering the era.

Thank you, stampvirgin.

Although, if I had known how important the edges of the oval frame are, I might have done things differently on both this and more importantly my #9, just to be sure.

I got my magnifying glass out tonight for the white speck, and found nothing there. So I put the stamp into a different mount and rescanned it ... and got a white speck at 2 o'clock on the circle of the postmark. So I huffed and puffed and after several attempts finally got this. What a relief ... no sign of the white speck ... but whatever it was had to be pretty determined to hang around since it didn't fall off when I put it away last time and then got it out again tonight.

.
