What do I have here? At first I thought they were both simply variations of Type 44 precancels but upon closer examination there are differences in size.

The 1-1/2-cent stamp on the left is 12.5mm between bars, 2.5mm between bar and name, City name 17.5mm long; and State name 9mm long.

The 4-cent stamp on the right is 12mm between bars, 2mm between bar and name; City name 16mm long; and State name 8mm long.

Thanks.

I should know this off the top of my head, but I do not!
At work, my books at home.
I'll try to answer this later.

Both are Type 44. "The faces are highly standardized, dimensions are approximate" per PSS Catalogue.

Thanks. I would have thought that such a noticeable size difference would have meant a different precancel type, but I guess in the world of precancels you can never tell for sure.

By the way, would you be able to help me ID this precancel for Minneapolis (probably an L-Type)?:

Sorry! Guys! It is an L-7 E.
The 'Minn,' on an L-7 half the 'M' is under the 1st 'n' & '.' lines up with 'p'.
The L-5 the entire 'M' is completely under the 1st 'n' the '.' lines up under the 'o'.

Noted the correction. Will put into place as an L-7E. Thanks again.
