Beautiful stamp. Since I love railroading, I have to admit that the 2-center is my favorite of the series

Beautiful stamps, all! Stallzer, I really dig the XF 297. Simply gorgeous!

Here are my latest acquisitions ...

I was looking at these on ebay and noticed a few discrepancies. I think that there might be a small tear on the lower left hand side on the bottom of the 2¢ and the biggest question I have is this- Notice on the left sides of both there is a line which suggests to me that the sheet would have been cut apart with a shear and would lend itself to being a candidate for having a straight edge. So are these re-perforated on the left sides?

The line is a "center line" where two of the four plates abutted (this was flat plate printing). Ink would accumulate in the depression between the plates. Since four plates were used, you also could have a center-line block where the four plates came together. If you go to topic https://goscf.com/t/18788 you can see first image my copy of center line block of the Yorktown issue.

There is a good report discussing center lines at http://www.nwpl.org/
