Hi Robert. That is a beautiful cover, but may I suggest that when it is reduced to avatar size, it will become a small brown blob. I don't think this image will reduce very well. What if...and only a suggestion... you submitted only the 3 from the upper right corner. It's quite beautiful and simple and will be uniquely yours. You could crop the image using what ever software you've got (photoshop?) and save it as a separate file.
I think it would look pretty cool, but of course it is only a suggestion.

for example:

Excellent, glad to help. I would suggest sending a better scan though. Good luck.

Jamesw....Wouldn't a better scan create a file too big....Most of the Avatar's are under 100 kb, aren't they.

Robert, better to start fresh. When you do your new scan, zero in on the area you want. The problem with the existing on, I think, is that it has been enlarged from a low rez image. This makes is fuzzier. Do an new scan, then you can sample it down and come out with a nice image.
Worth a shot.

+1 Jamesw - a rescan at higher resolution would be better

The guy that does the avatars will do all the resizing for you Robert. Just supply the pic you want at a nice resolution and they'll do the rest
