I found this interesting precancel while sorting through one of old boxed accumulations. It has an obvious overprint "SCR-JUN 63"
Can you help with identifying what the overprint is?

ahhh - SRC = Sears Robuck Company. I never would have guessed that! Thanks, Russ, for the enlightenment! I'm sure that the value of the precancel didn't skyrocket.

What is the story on this type of precancel? S R C used the type in a number of cities, and they are not listed in the printed dated catalogue. They don't look like hand stamped dateds either. And I don't recall seeing bureaus with them listed as locals. Am I missing something?

Interesting site, wt1. And, of course, my precancel would be the most common one.
Here is another site discussing precancels. Concerning "dated" precancels, it states:
"Dateds – Starting in 1938, the user's initials plus the month of use was required to be printed on denominations over 6 cents. This practise was put into action to prevent precancelled stamp re-use."
