119p4. Card proofs are fairly inexpensive, but seemingly difficult to find. I don't know the history behind it, but for some reason there is no 118 proof listed in Scott. I would have expected the opposite to be true, since 118 was issued first. Perhaps someone can shed some light on that subject?

I take that as a compliment :)

That's the beauty of the internet ... we usually get to judge the contents of the book before seeing the cover.

salut!

Brian

I did not know that about the listing? Maybe same plate retouched? since this has a vignette and intricate outer frame might have been a constituent? That's a great question....

Thank you, Tom. I still have to dig my covers out of the moving boxes and place them in my new covers album(s). I'll get them scanned eventually!

Brian, I just have to say, that is an awesome collection! I always loved the 1869 issue, and wanted to get into collecting them, but I just can't seem to tear myself away from the 1847 issue.

The 1869 pictorial issue are just handsome stamps.

Cheers

Loved the Oregon stamp poster on the wall.

The 1869's are a very intriguing issue.

Thanks for sharing your holdings.

Jay, from the looks of this picture you might just like my '71 Martin D-28 even better than my #64 or #491 (select any Scott # you want here!)
