Hi guys
Can some one help me with an American stamp...I don't know enough about them...??

1 - Is this a Scott # 136 (White wove paper)

OR

2 - Is this a Scott # 147 (White wove paper, without grill)

I believe yours is a 207 on soft porous paper.

Edit: On the re-engraved 3c design of 1873, the shading around the central oval is about half the previous width and there is a horizontal dash about a millimeter below the TS in CENTS.

I agree with Steve it is the re-engraved American Bank Note Co. 207. It was actually issued in 1881.

The banknotes are particularly challenging. They were printed by 3 different companies with the differentiation being the secret marks, paper type or the color shade. Additionally they were re-engraved in 1881-82 for some of the values. They were also reprinted by both Continental and American Bank Note Co.

Actually the 24 cent National and Continental share the same cat number unless it is printed on ribbed paper as no one wants to certify the Contenental 24 cent silk paper.
