I use to collect stamps a very long time ago. I have quite a few of Mint stamps in Album. I am interested if anyone can tell me how or where to go to find the Market Value of Stamps. I have all kinds. I would like to sell some of my most valuable stamps if I can find out what they are worth. I know looking through a stamp catalog I found a stamp that I have that had a price tag of $26,000.00 bucks on it. However there was another stamp that looked just like the Hi-dollar one that was worth only $.50 cents?
I never did get into stamp collecting in the 1960's very heavy but bought a lot of stamps from a local stamp store from the Bid Board.

Any information would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum ! Market value and catalogue values usually differ greatly. you could start keeping an eye on auctions and other sales to get an idea of market value. Very often stamps sell for only a fraction of catalogue value. On the the other hand if a stamp is exceptional and graded it may go for more than market value.

Once again welcome and have fun

Hi rlorenz

Thanks for the Quick reply. I wasn't expecting a reply this quick. I have just found a free image posting that I can link to from this forum and post some of my stamps in here. Some one may have an idea to what I have. That is if it isn't against the rules. I haven't read the Complete rules. Been busy scanning my stamps and putting on my computer all night long...LOL

Again thanks

p.s. I noticed my profile said I was 12 years old...I wish...I am 62 years born in 1946. Just for your information...LOL

Hello 3flash.....

And, welcome to the club. Post all the pictures you want, we like seeing what others have and it makes it a lot easier to point out details or to try to identify items.

As for your hi-val......the differences between look-alike items can be, perfing, gum, paper, water mark, color/shade, and a variety of other things. In all probability your stamp is not the hi-val, it could be, but the odds are against it. Still.....the possibility is exciting isn't it ??

Ok...here is a block of stamps that I have yet to find anywhere on the internet in sales or for sale. These are mint stamps and have been in a case ever since I brought them back in 60's at the stamp store in my neighborhood.

If anyone can give me some insight on these stamps I would appreciate it very much.

thanks again

Welcome to the forum..

Your stamps are the 1973 issue " Tribute to Postal workers " SC 1489-1498.. My old Catalogue, 1997, lists each stamp at a value of 20 cents each...Mint never hinged..

Hello 3flash....

A note of minor importance.....these are strips, not a block.

2008 Scott has them still at 20 cents each.

3flash Welcome to the group. Something else about "Tribute to Postal Workers" set is that each stamp has a short description on the BACK printed in green ink under the gum telling about the scene on the front of each stamp. I have that set on an FDC and almost have a complete set in my album. I love this set.
